Ph.D. Currently serves as a Distinguished Professor at the Kyoto University Institute for Advanced Study and Director of the Center for Cancer Immunotherapy and Immunobiology at the Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto University. He has previously held positions as Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Kyoto University, Science Adviser at the Higher Education Bureau of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Director of the JSPS Research Center for Science Systems, and Executive Member of the Council for Science and Technology Policy. A member of The Japan Academy (Nippon Gakushi-in), he specializes in molecular biology. In 2018, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his discovery of cancer therapy through the inhibition of negative immune regulation. He has also received numerous other honors, including the 2013 Order of Culture, the 2014 Tang Prize, and the 2016 Kyoto Prize.Cherish your curiosity.
